NEGLECTING THE RULES
Because I have too many to reply back to, I can't tell everyone that they are not following the rules.
If you tried to enter for the side raffle and didn't get a ticket, it's because you didn't follow the rules.
When I say to advertise a journal, I mean a journal you make, not this one. Make sure you follow
the rules next time, or I can't enter you into the raffles~

You must be a watcher! New watchers are wel
Lately, I've been catching up with my sculpting commissions at last.
Yay!
I only have a few mini charms to sculpt and a realistic small rattlesnake, so I feel relieved to have pretty much caught up. One of the mini charms is for a lovely person in the UK; it's my first international commission!
Mini charms are usually pretty quick to make, but due to the potentially fragile nature of the clay, I've been spending more time working on the armatures to make them more durable. I'm getting better at it; I want to ensure that each charm, keychain, and sculpture I create is as durable as it can be, even if it takes me twice the amount of time to make, it's worth it. I want my creations to be durable! And I want people to be satisfied with them too. Of course, no matter how much wire and foil is inside a sculpture, the clay could still chip if dropped or banged on hard surfaces, but that's a natural risk that I can't fix.
Meanwhile, I'm still at work on illustrating the children's book. I'm on the 5th page, and there's going to be about 15 pages overall I believe (too lazy to check right now). I'm hoping to finish it up within the next few months. After this page, I've been able to have all the rest except for the last one sketched out and panned with the author, so starting on the 6th page things should go quite a lot faster! Half the time is getting the sketches to align with the author's vision, because we contact each other by email; so when I do a sketch, I have to send it to her and wait for her reply before continuing with it.
In one case, I finished the 4th page, and after she looked at it, she wanted a major change in the layout, which added a lot more time to it. The change made the illustration look a lot better and I'm super happy with it, but it does take time to do this.
This is my first book illustrating project, and it's very exciting and promising. I feel that once it's all finished, it'll help get my name out there a lot, and by having some experience like this under my belt, more people will be inclined to commission/hire me for big projects like this.
Anyway, that's all so far!
I'm thinking it's about time for a good cup of evening coffee, and then time to get back to sketching!
