Equipment: A Bamboo Tablet, Corel Painter Essentials 4.

This is my entry for the 'Draw This Again' challenge/contest. It's a remake of my old picture 'Primavera Dea' that I drew back around 2009. I had a lot of fun doing this, but it took me so long... I spent the entire day today rushing to finish it so I could enter it in time! Ahh, my eyes...!
So this is the picture by itself, I'm also uploading the comparing version. Although I messed up the downloadable template somehow and was never able to get it back to normal, so I just put both pictures in one to compare them side by side. I suppose that'll have to do.

Here's the original picture I did back in 2009, [link] if anyone wishes to see so they can compare the two.

Comments are appreciated, thank you very much! I enjoyed this contest greatly, I love the concept of it.

great improvement :D but I think you need to submit it side by side inside the meme for it to qualify, you'll see what I mean if you browse the other entries.

btw, feel like taking a lookie at my entry? [link] I asked for my boyfriend's opinion, but what I got was "please stop drawing humans, it's horrible" and "I don't mind you drawing, but keep them secret" -_- So no more getting feedback there lol

I hope they accept it even though I didn't use the template! :shakefist: I just wish I didn't mess it up, but oh well... :giggle:
So I've looked at your entry, and I hope you don't mind honest criticism :? I think the birdcage in the old entry is awesome, and I like the brightness of the whole picture; the newer drawing is darker, but the shading is done pretty well. Also, I think the anatomy of the woman's body is pretty good myself, but her face could use some more work on it, such as her eyes could be a little more closer together and her lips a bit smaller. Practice makes perfect, after all!
And keep your drawings a secret?! Whaaa? If your passionate about drawing and art, then no one should have a problem whether you keep it secret or not!
Hope you don't mind the mini critque up there on your picture :hug:

I guess I went abit overboard with toning down the colours^^; In the beginning one I was just learning about colour combinations, and I didn't even understand the greyscale xD So later, after I learned the colour wheel with the greyscale/saturation properly I think I've been afraid to use very saturated tones.
The face I know needed some work, even so I am still proud of what I managed to get out on the canvas. It's all practice I guess (and refernce pictures, alot of reference pictures)^^;

He is just.. ehm.. extemely picky when it comes to what is good and what is bad. And I guess that is why I love that bastard lol. I'll keep posting to DA, but just not show it to him and expect positive response. He's a perfectionist afterall, and have the same set of expectation for me as for himself, even if he is clearly a better artist. Wich makes me kinda happy xD

I'm proud of you for submitting something that you weren't all the way pleased with, since I never do that :giggle: If I think it looks off in some way, I only show it to veeeery few people to get an opinion on what's wrong. After all, practicing on it and fixing what's wrong makes you talent and skill better! :XD:

Ohh, I see. Sorry if it sounded like I was being mean about him, ^^; I just think it's better to point out what needs to be fixed if the artist wants to know what's wrong, so they can improve their skills. But if he's an artist too, then that's probably why he's so critical; artists can certainly be that way. :giggle: I'm that way...to myself. :D
If he makes you happy, then that's what matters :hug:
