Dragon Hoard Priceless, Blue Diamond stage two

Here's the second progression piece of the Dragon Hoard, Blue Diamond! As you can see, I've 'scaled' most of his head now and the topmost horns; I've still got a ways to go, but he's looking better and better! I've also put in some shadowing and darker scales on his face to add more depth, and I'll probably add more the further along I go. I want him to look like you can reach out and feel the scales coveing his body...in other words, realistic.
Oh, and I'm not sure whether or not I've said this before, but no one else inspired me to draw such a dragon, no one else's works or whatnot; the only thing inspiring was the thought of wanting to draw a western-style dragon.
He just came out onto paper one day as I doodled on my art pad a year ago, while waiting for the kettle to boil (I was making tea!), so he's entirely my own.
